I'm back!!!!
A special note to Mama Mouse * I am on the mend, thankfully. Had a terrible bout with bronchial pneumonia, even though I had pneumonia shot two years ago. There were a few days there that I was absolutely sure I wasn't going to make it. Thank you for your concern, Mama! It means a lot more to me than you will ever know.
As a result of being sick for a protracted period of time, I was unable to post, think, and barely breathe! In fact, if it hadn't been for a wonderful friend from New York (who has a winter home in the southern part of Alabama) who came to "take care of me," I'd probably still be sick! Talk about a bossy lady! Phew, she kept me straight in spite of myself! ;-)
My dear friend took excellent care of me - although there were a few times I found myself wishing she would just go away and leave me alone. Didn't matter to her one bit, let me tell you. She and I were school chums when I was in college back in the 90s! She bossed me around then, too! LOL
Now, she is on her way back to New York to help her father (who is 84 years old) sell his rental property, his house, and move back to LA (lower Alabama) with her within the next couple of months - or so they hope, anyway. Somehow, thank you just didn't seem appropriate enough to let her know how much I appreciated her friendship and loving (if slightly bossy) care of me.
Isn't it wonderful to have friends! Oh my, but I am richly blessed with kind, considerate, and loving friends. They are worth more to me than any worldly possession could ever match or even compare!
Yesterday I began to feel more like myself than I have in a couple of weeks and I could actually TASTE something other than cardboard! Yuck!
And, the best news of all is I went to my "bone" doctor yesterday afternoon and got ALMOST a clean bill of health where my fractured pelvis is concerned. I must still rely upon my cane outside of my home (where I have plenty of "stuff" upon which I can lean if necessary) and must continue hydra therapy for approximately 3 months more. I'm a sight for sore eyes in a pair of baggy shorts and goofy looking tee-shirt during hydra therapy, believe you me!!!! This old gal WILL NOT be seen in a bathing suit - and hasn't been for over 25 years! Everything has gone South, you know what I mean?
Miss Freckles is a happy dog NOW - she about went nuts with "Mom" laid up in bed for such a long time. She hasn't left my side since Tuesday - the first day I spent any length of time out of bed! Poor baby! And, I think she's happy it's just "me and she" again!
Happy days have come to Mickey Finn!

Oh I am SOOOOO glad you are feeling better! I really WAS concerned ... and I just knew you were REALLY sick. How wonderful that you had a friend that came and took care of you. That means so VERY, very much.
And the news about your pelvis is fantastic! By summertime you will hopefully be cane free!! You will be able to go out and frolick with Miss Freckles and chase squirrels and cows and deer!
I know what you mean about the swim suit! My cousin bought me one about 10 years ago ... I had it on once to see if it fit ... it does. It remains in my drawer and will ... till I die! THEN they can put me into it if they want to.
Welcome back dear one ... and take it easy ... don't push too much too soon!
Mickey Finn its good to have you BACK!
Dear Mickey,
Mama Mouse said it all and much better then I could ever say it.
I also agree about a bathing suit, after you get a certain age, whether you do or don't have a weight problem, bathing suits just don't look good on a person's body. That also includes men.
You and Miss Freckles have a great Sunday together, alone. Glad you're back.
